Three years later, she was criticized for comments she made regarding journalist Michael Hastings, who had overheard a communication between General Stanley A. McChrystal and his staff and had published it. She was arrested by the Egyptian Army in 2011 while covering the Egyptian Revolution, jailed for one night, and subjected to sexual assault, only to be rescued by a group of women.
