Ballerini is originally from Knoxville, TN. Her father, Ed, is of Italian heritage and used to work for a country radio station. Carla, her mother, works in marketing for Thomas Nelson and a sponsorship firm. She is a singleton She began taking dancing lessons at three years old at Premiere Dance Studio in Seymour, Tennessee.
