Cara Robinson was born in England on August 7, 1985. Her father, Michael Robinson, owns a golf vacation company, and her mother, Sarah, was the president of the British Alpine Racing Ski Clubs. She grew up with her younger brother, Myles Robinson.

Cara and her brother Myles attended Ashdown House Prep before being separated when Cara enrolled in Beneden boarding school for girls. She developed a strong interest in sports while still in high school, and this continued when she enrolled in university.
